About Marike Fourie

 

Marike Fourie is the E&S Risk Officer at #Inspired_Evolution_Investment_Management where she is responsible for the implementation and management of the company’s Environmental and Social Management System (“ESMS”) across all its funds under management.

 

Marike works closely with the deal team and investee companies to manage potential ESG risks through the implementation of stringent E&S policies and procedures. She also liaises with development finance institutions and international investors to ensure projects are aligned with international standards and best practice guidelines.

Previously in 2006, Marike joined Digby Wells Environmental where she gained extensive experience in the mining sector across Africa. She worked on projects situated in Sierra Leone, Mali, Botswana, Namibia, Senegal and South Africa. Later in 2013, Marike shifted to the corporate world when she was appointed by ABSA Barclays Africa as the environmental credit risk manager of the specialised finance team.

 

Marike brings valuable experience in large-scale investments, project finance and risk management based on the Equator Principles and IFC’s environmental and social performance standards. Marike holds a multidisciplinary (BHCS. Hon) degree from the University of Pretoria and a master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the University of Johannesburg.
